OVERVIEW
Perihelion is a yearly magazine that connects the cosmos with our planet, educating readers about the latest discoveries in space exploration while also addressing critical events affecting life on Earth. The title refers to the point in a planet’s orbit closest to the sun, symbolizing our aim to bring readers close to the year's most significant cosmic and earthly moments.
In leading the design, layout, editorial direction, and illustrations, I curated content through extensive research on space discoveries and Earth’s climate. I crafted a visual flow inspired by retro-futuristic and spacecore aesthetics. To boost engagement, I included interactive elements like games and puzzles, as well as mocked-up ads that resonated with the content, creating a playful yet informative experience.
Reader feedback indicates that the magazine is both engaging and educational, successfully marrying scientific insights with an accessible design. Perihelion demonstrates how thoughtful visual storytelling can make complex ideas immersive and enjoyable for readers.
